Lately we’ve been starting our mornings with a breakfast that is healthy and easy to put together – Lox Bagels. Lox is salt cured or brined smoked salmon. Salmon is great for heart health and brain development making it one of the world’s best foods for growing children and healthy adults. Fish has played an important nutritional part in health since prehistoric times. With salmon being packed with protein and omega-3s it is an ideal choice for any meal and great way to start the day. You can find it in pre-packaged at your grocery store or purchase it by the pound in the seafood department which tends to be a little more flavorful and thickly sliced. Here’s how to prepare your Lox Bagels:

Lox Bagels

Smoked Salmon

Plain bagel, toasted and halved

Extra virgin olive oil

Sea salt

Plain cream cheese

Tomato, sliced

Capers

Purple onion, thinly sliced

Directions:

Drizzle bagel halves with olive oil and sprinkle with sea salt. Spread evenly with cream cheese. Top evenly with smoked salmon, tomato, capers and purple onion. Serve.
